The Memphis have clearer highs and deeper lows and a much better balance of sound. Later on down the road I sold them and replaced them with a pair of Memphis M-Class 6 1/2" speakers which sound way better. I am not saying there are not better car speakers out there, but if there are I haven't heard them. They are much better than Sony or Pioneer speakers that you pick up at Wal Mart, but for $100.00 a pair, not worth it. For myself, I will stick with Memphis M-Class. This is not matter of opinion either.
I hear Alpine and Boston Acoustics car speakers are nice as well, but I haven't heard them so I don't know. I was not impressed with these speakers. I put them in the doors of my Bronco and had them hooked up without an amp to an aftermarket Pioneer deck and the sound was mediocre. So do yourself a favor, find an authorized Memphis dealer and get some M-Class speakers, they rock.
I got two of em to put in the front doors of my SUV and they pack a nice little punch, can handle some bass but also pick up highs really well. One of the best purchases I've ever made. Speakers sound great. These speakers can handle a lot and should probably cost a lot more than the prices Amazon is asking.
